Job Opening [Feb. 18th, 2013|07:26 pm]
Windsor Area Residents

Just in case anyone is looking, the company I work for, COLE International, is hiring for the midnight shift, Mon-Friday, full time permanent. It's a customs brokerage, so the job is mostly data entry and answering phones. While we'd love to find someone with customs experience, anyone familiar with data entry would be considered. Compensation is fairly decent, with the position most likely starting at $15 a hour, yearly raises, benefits from your first day of employment, and a profit-sharing plan after 2 years on the job.

Send in your resumes and cover letters to 519-250-9243, attention to Lorri.

G.R.A.V.E.L. - Gamers Revel At Villains Evil Lair!
Theme: Card Chaos
August 31st 6-Midnight

The Windsor Gaming Resource and Villains Beastro are proud to announce our third GRAVEL gaming event.

The Villains Beastro is a unique, funky, weird, mystical, fun, serious, laid back, Viking-feeling, pub-looking rock n’ roll type place that has decided to open their doors for us. It’s the perfect spot for a group of geeks to hang out and play some games. There are plenty of tables of all sizes, a well lit stage area, some great beers on draft and a selection of great tasting sandwiches. Villains has agreed to give us the space for free and I encourage everyone to support the venue by buying food and drink.

Our fist two G.R.A.V.E.L. events were huge successes and Villains has been asking us when we can return. I'm not one to deny a mastermind, so we will be returning on August 31st. The gaming starts at 6PM and will officially go until Midnight.

The theme this time around is Card Chaos. We will be expecting people to bring card based games. This can be anything from people playing traditional games like Euchre and Uno to deck building games like Dominion and Nightfall or party games like Fluxx and Apples to Apples.

This is an open non-competitive gaming event that anyone is welcome to attend. Any form of games are welcome, board, card, rpg, miniatures, whatever you want to bring we are willing to have you. We encourage people to bring games that fit the theme but if there's something you just have to share, feel free to bring it. We aren't rule lawyers. You are welcome to bring your own games or share in some of ours. Everything we bring we are willing to teach and no experience is necessary. The goal is to get as many local gamers out as possible to enjoy some good food, some good company and some good games!

An important note: we are not a private club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and join in the games. If you see someone playing a game and it looks interesting, ask about it. If you see a game on a table and you want to try it out, ask around and see if someone will teach it.

Villains is located Downtown at:
256 Pelissier
Windsor, ON N9A 4K3

Theme: Science Fiction!

The Windsor Gaming Resource and Villains Beastro are proud to announce our second GRAVEL gaming event.

The Villains Beastro is a unique, funky, weird, mystical, fun, serious, laid back, Viking-feeling, pub-looking rock n’ roll type place that has decided to open their doors for us. The theme is Villains of all types. The bar is in the shape of a '45, the walls are covered with mug shots of all manner of vile and evil villains. It’s basically the perfect spot for a group of geeks to hang out and play some games. There are plenty of tables of all sizes, a well lit stage area some great beers on draft and a selection of great tasting sandwiches. Villains has agreed to give us the space for free and I encourage everyone to support our new venue by buying food and drink.

Our fist GRAVEL event back on June 15th was a huge success and Villains practically begged to have us back. I'm not one to deny a mastermind, so we will be returning on July the 20th. The festivities start at 6PM and officially go until Midnight. Villains is open until 3AM and if people want to stay long into the night that's cool.

The theme this time around is Science Fiction! We are encouraging people to bring games that represent this theme. Battlestar Gallactica, Alien Frontiers, Robo Rally, Starfarers of Catan, Space Munckin, etc. Non-thematic games are also welcome but it will be more fun the more people that participate.

This is an open non-competitive gaming event that anyone is welcome to attend. Any form of games are welcome, board, card, rpg, miniatures, whatever you want to bring we are willing to have you. You are welcome to bring your own games or share in some of ours. Everything we bring we are willing to teach and no experience is necessary. The goal is to get as many local gamers out as possible to enjoy some good food, some good company and some good games!

An important note: we are not a public club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and join in the games.

Is anyone still active in here?

I'm looking for a new hairdresser.

I have naturally wavy/curly hair, which I usually wear curly.  I'm looking for a hairdresser who KNOWS curly hair.

Any suggestions?

Also, I'm in Windsor, and have no vehicle.

Hello Windsor!

I was wondering if anyone knew a good Chiropractor in the Downtown or Devonshire Mall area (accessible by the 1A/1C bus, basically) who also offers acupuncture and massage therapy on site?

Thanks in advance!

Zumba Classes [Feb. 21st, 2012|05:00 pm]

Does anyone know a really good Zumba class in Windsor? I've tried Cathy's Dance Studio, Joel at Absolute Fitness, and Zumba with Heather (classes in and around LaSalle), but none of these have really clicked for me like my old Zumba class did. I'm not keen to join a gym, so any classes I can simply drop in to would be fantastic.

Windsor Pride? [Nov. 19th, 2011|09:33 pm]

I've been interested in volunteering for Windsor Pride for a while, but I've had no luck getting any response from them. I went into their office to turn in the necessary forms and was told they'd get back to me in a week or two - that was at the end of August. I emailed their volunteer address to follow up at the start of October, and got no response. Since they're only open during work hours (and even then, fairly limited times) I would have to take time off work to go into the office again, and I'm a bit discouraged, to tell the truth. Have any of you had similar experiences, or found a better way to get in touch with them? Or is there another queer organization in the city that could use someone who wants to help out?

Assorted Records [Sep. 26th, 2011|02:14 pm]

autumns_jane

I have recently come into ownership of a huge collection of mixed vinyl albums. They range all over the map as far as musical category goes, from calypso music to orchestral to opera to comedy albums etc.
There is some Robert Goulet (GOULET), Nat King Cole and Nancy Sinatra. There are some recognizable names and then a lot of organ music.

Anyways, the reason for this post is that I can't possibly store all these records, I just don't have the space.
If you're looking for some vinyls featuring classical pianos or some ironic silly things please comment and let's set something up.
Donations are welcome. I'd like to try and use any money raised to put into buying supplies for the daycare I work at as we don't get any funding and we are always in need of supplies and new toys.
